GIZ logo – German international cooperation for sustainable development.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is a German federal enterprise specializing in international cooperation for sustainable development and international education. Established on January 1, 2011, through the merger of three organizations—Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ), Deutscher Entwicklungsdienst (DED), and Internationale Weiterbildung und Entwicklung (InWEnt)—GIZ leverages over 50 years of combined experience to address global challenges.

Operating in more than 120 countries, GIZ collaborates with governments, private sector entities, civil society organizations, and research institutions to implement projects that promote economic development, environmental sustainability, peace, and security. Its primary commissioning party is the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), but it also works with other federal ministries, international organizations, and foreign governments.

GIZ’s services encompass a wide range of areas, including economic development and employment promotion, energy and environmental management, and peacebuilding. By providing policy advice, capacity building, and project implementation, GIZ aims to foster sustainable development and improve living conditions worldwide.
