Sierra Leone – Tradin Organic

Description

Ecotop is proud to collaborate with Tradin Organic, in an impactful project aimed at promoting sustainable cocoa production and supporting smallholder farmers in Sierra Leone. Tradin Sierra Leone, a branch of Tradin Organic, is the largest exporter of cocoa in Sierra Leone.

As a experienced consultancy service provider, Ecotop Suisse plays a crucial role in this project by offering its expertise and guidance in implementing sustainable agricultural practices and agroforestry systems.

The overarching goal of this collaboration is to enhance cocoa farmers’ livelihoods while preserving the environment and fostering biodiversity. By working closely with local partners and international experts, Ecotop assists Tradin Organic in implementing Dynamic Agroforestry that promote soil health, prevent deforestation, and improve the overall resilience of cocoa farming communities.

Through an intricate network of Farmer Field Schools and farmer-led micro-banks (VSLAs), the project focuses on various activities to achieve its objectives. These include providing technical assistance and training to smallholder farmers, diversification of monocultures and distributing seedlings for sustainable cocoa production. Ecotop’s role as a consultancy service is to facilitate the design and implementation of these initiatives, ensuring they align with sustainable agricultural practices and contribute to positive socio-environmental impact.

By addressing these SDGs, Ecotop’s consultancy services in this project align with the global sustainability agenda, fostering social, economic, and environmental progress in Sierra Leone’s cocoa sector
