L'analyse de 52 articles a permis de constater que si les rendements en cacao des syst\u00e8mes agroforestiers sont inf\u00e9rieurs d'environ 25% \u00e0 ceux des monocultures, les rendements de l'ensemble du syst\u00e8me - y compris les autres cultures comme les fruits et le bois - sont environ dix fois plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s. Cette diversification contribue de mani\u00e8re significative \u00e0 la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 alimentaire et fournit des sources de revenus suppl\u00e9mentaires aux petits exploitants. En outre, les syst\u00e8mes agroforestiers stockent 2,5 fois plus de carbone que les monocultures, ce qui contribue \u00e0 att\u00e9nuer le changement climatique. Ils contribuent \u00e9galement \u00e0 l'adaptation au climat en abaissant les temp\u00e9ratures moyennes et en att\u00e9nuant les temp\u00e9ratures extr\u00eames, cr\u00e9ant ainsi un microclimat plus favorable aux cacaoyers. L'\u00e9tude n'a pas r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 de diff\u00e9rences significatives dans la fertilit\u00e9 des sols entre les deux syst\u00e8mes, et l'incidence des ravageurs et des maladies varie en fonction des esp\u00e8ces.
