Transforming Agriculture with Dynamic Agroforestry

This project aims to empower indigenous leaders, farming families, and local actors in the Bolivian Amazon through Agroforesterie dynamique (DAF)—a regenerative farming approach that enhances soil fertility, increases productivity, and strengthens climate resilience. By integrating multi-strata, successional planting, farmers improve yields while restoring ecological balance

Key Objectives and Expected Impact of the Agroforestry Project

Strengthening Indigenous Leadership in Agroforestry

  • Training local agroforestry experts to establish and manage at least 40 new Dynamic Agroforestry plots in their communities.
  • Creating knowledge-sharing networks to ensure long-term adoption of regenerative farming practices.

Increasing Crop Productivity and Diversification

  • Developing 50 new agroforestry systems and diversifying 40 existing farms with at least 16 fruit and timber species.
  • Implementing sustainable pruning techniques to increase cocoa yields by at least 60%.

Building a Sustainable Organic Food Market

  • Supporting 150 farming families to obtain SPG organic certification, increasing access to premium markets.
  • Establishing a local agroecological restaurant and marketplace in Palos Blancos, promoting farm-to-table food consumption.

Agroforestry-Based Solutions to Climate Change and Food Security

  • Scaling Slash-and-Mulch Agriculture – Expanding chaco sin quema (no-burn farming) to prevent deforestation and improve fertilité des sols.
  • Training Farmers in Agroforestry – Providing hands-on training and technical assistance for agroecological land management.
  • Integrating Successional Planting Models – Combining fast-growing nitrogen fixers, fruit trees, and long-term timber species to create productive, self-sustaining systems.
  • Market Development for Agroforestry Products – Establishing direct sales channels for cocoa, fruit, and other agroecological products, increasing farmer incomes.

Why Dynamic Agroforestry is the Future of Sustainable Farming in the Amazon

  • Higher Yields Without Chemical Inputs – By replicating natural forest succession, crops thrive without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides.
  • Enhanced Soil Fertility and Carbon Sequestration – Agroforestry improves soil health, restores degraded lands, and stores carbon to combat climate change.
  • Climate-Resilient Cocoa and Food ProductionCanopy shading and deep-rooted plants improve drought resistance and moisture retention.
  • Economic Sustainability for Farming Families – Diversified farming systems provide multiple income sources, reducing financial risks.

A Scalable Model for Agroecological Cocoa and Food Production

Par empowering local farmers and indigenous leaders, this project strengthens agroecological resilience in the Bolivian Amazon. Through field training, farmer-to-farmer knowledge exchange, and agroforestry market development, ECOTOP is scaling Dynamic Agroforestry as a high-yield, climate-smart solution.

Join us in transforming agriculture with DAF—where productivity, sustainability, and resilience go hand in hand.
