Los agricultores que podaron sus \u00e1rboles de sombra experimentaron aumentos de rendimiento de 430 kg\/ha a 710 kg\/ha de cacao en grano seco. Esta mejora se atribuy\u00f3 a una mejor floraci\u00f3n y producci\u00f3n de vainas gracias a una mayor disponibilidad de luz.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aunque la poda aument\u00f3 significativamente los rendimientos, la viabilidad econ\u00f3mica dependi\u00f3 de la productividad inicial de la explotaci\u00f3n. Las explotaciones con mayores rendimientos iniciales eran las m\u00e1s beneficiadas econ\u00f3micamente, ya que los ingresos adicionales derivados de una mayor producci\u00f3n de cacao compensaban los costes de la poda. Sin embargo, en el caso de las explotaciones con rendimientos inferiores, los costes de la poda a menudo superaban las ganancias de ingresos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Los resultados ponen de relieve la importancia de la gesti\u00f3n de los \u00e1rboles de sombra como parte de la agrosilvicultura sostenible del cacao. La poda no s\u00f3lo aumenta el rendimiento, sino que tambi\u00e9n mejora el equilibrio general entre productividad y servicios ecosist\u00e9micos, como el almacenamiento de carbono y la biodiversidad.
