Los monocultivos de cacao suelen causar problemas como la degradaci\u00f3n del suelo, la p\u00e9rdida de biodiversidad y una mayor vulnerabilidad a las plagas, las enfermedades y el cambio clim\u00e1tico. En cambio, el DAF imita los bosques naturales integrando una variedad de plantas y \u00e1rboles, lo que mejora la fertilidad del suelo, reduce la presi\u00f3n de plagas y enfermedades, controla la erosi\u00f3n y diversifica los ingresos de los agricultores.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La investigaci\u00f3n descubri\u00f3 que los sistemas DAF no s\u00f3lo igualan sino que a menudo superan la productividad de los monocultivos. En los ensayos, los rendimientos totales fueron hasta 161% superiores en los sistemas DAF, y los rendimientos del cacao por s\u00ed solo fueron de 12-46% superiores en la agrosilvicultura en comparaci\u00f3n con los monocultivos. Adem\u00e1s, el cacao cultivado en DAF presentaba muchos menos casos de enfermedades como la escoba de bruja.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Los agricultores que practican el DAF observaron menos problemas de suelo y plagas.
