Objectives of the workshop<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Learn about the practices of producers with diverse and dynamic agroforestry systems in the Alto Beni region and exchange experiences with workshop participants and presenters.<\/li>\n
  • Discuss and interpret the results of research conducted within the framework of the SysCom trials in Alto Beni (comparison of long-term cocoa production systems, Bolivian national cocoa, dynamic agroforestry systems).<\/li>\n
  • Exchange experiences with the cocoa producers organization EL CEIBO Ltda, from cocoa production to processing and marketing of chocolates in Bolivia.<\/li>\n
  • Practice participatory and holistic teaching methods and learn tools to conduct educational events on agroforestry systems and organic production aimed at producer families.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Who is this workshop for?<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Facilitators and technical staff of organizations or institutions that promote and accompany organic cocoa production in agroforestry systems in Latin America. Interest in organic production and agroforestry systems, agroecology, and holistic concepts of agricultural production. Facilitators and technicians interested in participatory methods for the facilitation of educational events related to organic cocoa production in agroforestry systems. Willingness to implement an event or a course with the material made available and thus validate it and provide feedback to improve the didactic material.<\/p>\n

    Methodology \/ Program<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Practice in the use of pedagogical tools and in the design of educational events (exercises, interactive and participatory methods) focused on agroforestry systems.<\/li>\n
    • Presentation of experiences and scientific results of different cocoa production systems of the SysCom long-term research project, focusing on the sustainability of the different systems and the management innovations developed.<\/li>\n
    • Design of a new agroforestry plot and methods and techniques to convert existing plots into agroforestry systems.<\/li>\n
    • Visit to producers in the region to exchange experiences on the production of cocoa and other crops in agroforestry systems of different complexity and age.<\/li>\n
    • Visit to the Central de Cooperativas EL CEIBO Ltda. and exchange of experiences with representatives of the leading organization in organic cocoa production. Optional visit to the El CEIBO chocolate factory in the city of El Alto.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      We will work with didactic material elaborated by the FiBL team, ECOTOP and others based on the experiences and scientific results in Alto Beni, focusing on simple organic agroforestry systems up to dynamic systems (considering the succession of species).<\/p>\n

        Joachim Milz, dynamic agroforestry producer, international consultant for dynamic agroforestry systems, President of Ecotop Fundaci\u00f3n, partner of the SysCom Bolivia project.<\/p>\n

        Monika Schneider, researcher at the Research Institute for Organic Agriculture (FiBL) in Switzerland, agronomist, specialized in organic cocoa and agroforestry systems, responsible for the SysCom Bolivia project.<\/p>\n

        The workshop will take place mostly in Sara Ana – Research and Training Center with visits in the region, for example to EL CEIBO and the ECOTOP Center, in Sapecho, Alto Beni, Dept. of La Paz – Bolivia.<\/p>\n

        The Sara Ana Center has demonstration plots and scientific trials as well as an infrastructure for workshops, lodging in shared rooms and a dining room.<\/p>\n

  • Conocer las pr\u00e1cticas de productores y productoras con sistemas agroforestales diversos y din\u00e1micos en la regi\u00f3n del Alto Beni e intercambiar experiencias con los participantes y expositores del taller.<\/li>\n
  • Discutir e interpretar los resultados de investigaci\u00f3n realizadas dentro del marco de los ensayos SysCom en el Alto Beni (comparaci\u00f3n de sistemas de producci\u00f3n de cacao a largo-plazo, cacao nacional boliviano, sistemas agroforestales din\u00e1micos).<\/li>\n
  • Intercambiar experiencias con la organizaci\u00f3n de productores de cacao EL CEIBO Ltda, desde la producci\u00f3n de cacao hasta el procesamiento y comercializaci\u00f3n de chocolates en Bolivia.<\/li>\n
  • Practicar m\u00e9todos participativos y hol\u00edsticos de ense\u00f1anza y conocer herramientas para realizar eventos educativos sobre sistemas agroforestales y la producci\u00f3n org\u00e1nica dirigidos a familias productoras.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Inter\u00e9s en la producci\u00f3n org\u00e1nica y en sistemas agroforestales, agroecolog\u00eda, y conceptos hol\u00edsticos de la producci\u00f3n agr\u00edcola. Facilitador\/as y t\u00e9cnicos\/as interesados\/as en m\u00e9todos participativos para la facilitaci\u00f3n de eventos educativos relacionados con la producci\u00f3n de cacao org\u00e1nico en sistemas agroforestales. Disponibilidad de implementar un evento o un curso con el material puesto a disposici\u00f3n y as\u00ed validarlo y retroalimentar las experiencias para mejorar el material did\u00e1ctico.<\/p>\n

    • Pr\u00e1ctica en el uso de herramientas pedag\u00f3gicas y en el dise\u00f1o de eventos educativos (ejercicios, m\u00e9todos interactivos y participativos) enfocados en sistemas agroforestales.<\/li>\n
    • Presentaci\u00f3n de experiencias y resultados cient\u00edficos de diferentes sistemas de producci\u00f3n de cacao del proyecto de investigaci\u00f3n a largo plazo SysCom, con enfoque a la sostenibilidad de los diferentes sistemas y las innovaciones de manejo desarrollados.<\/li>\n
    • Dise\u00f1o de una parcela agroforestal nueva y m\u00e9todos y t\u00e9cnicas de convertir parcelas existentes en sistemas agroforestales.<\/li>\n
    • Visita a productores\/as de la regi\u00f3n para intercambiar experiencias sobre la producci\u00f3n de cacao y otros cultivos en sistemas agroforestales de diferente complejidad y edad.<\/li>\n
    • Visita a la Central de Cooperativas EL CEIBO Ltda e intercambio de experiencias con representantes de la organizaci\u00f3n l\u00edder en la producci\u00f3n org\u00e1nica de cacao. Opcional[1]mente visita a la f\u00e1brica de chocolate de El CEIBO en la ciudad de EL Alto.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
