Die Studie vergleicht vier junge Kakaosysteme: konventionelle Monokultur, \u00f6kologische Monokultur, konventionelle Agroforstwirtschaft und \u00f6kologische Agroforstwirtschaft. Mithilfe einer Lebenszyklusanalyse (LCA) bewertet die Studie den Zusammenhang zwischen Nahrungsmitteln, Energie und Wasser sowie zehn Umweltauswirkungskategorien wie den Kohlenstoff-Fu\u00dfabdruck und den Wasserverbrauch. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass Agroforstsysteme, insbesondere wenn sie \u00f6kologisch bewirtschaftet werden, eine bessere Umweltbilanz aufweisen als konventionelle Monokulturen. Agroforstsysteme weisen eine h\u00f6here Energieeffizienz, einen geringeren Verbrauch an nicht erneuerbaren Ressourcen und geringere Umweltauswirkungen auf, obwohl der Wasserfu\u00dfabdruck aufgrund der geringeren Ertr\u00e4ge in den ersten Jahren etwas h\u00f6her ist. F\u00fcr Kleinbauern kann die Einf\u00fchrung von Agroforstpraktiken und \u00f6kologischer Bewirtschaftung zu einer nachhaltigeren Kakaoproduktion, verbesserter Energieeffizienz und diversifizierten Einkommensquellen durch zus\u00e4tzliche Kulturen wie Bananen und Holzb\u00e4ume f\u00fchren.
